Directional fields are central objects in geometry processing. They represent flows, alignments, and symmetry on discrete meshes. They are used for diverse applications, such as meshing, fluid simulation, texture synthesis, architectural design, and many more. Such applications commonly require some guarantees on the geometric properties of the fields they use. Examples for required guarantees are integrability, smoothness, bijectivity, and proper discrete representation without sampling aliasing artefacts. I will present some novel methods for Directional field processing that are able to achieve such requirements.
