Distributed and Parallel Systems Reading Group

Fall 2017-8

Host: Adam Morrison

When: Sun, 14:00-16:00

Room: Schreiber 309

Overview

Distributed and parallel systems drive modern computing at every scale—from the multi-core architecture of servers to the geo-distributed systems hosting cloud computing services. In this seminar, we will discuss one or more topics in distributed/parallel systems research. The goal is to understand the state of the art and its shortcomings, so that we can identify research opportunities. The format is a reading group; each week, we will discuss one/two research papers. All participants are expected to read the papers before they are presented and to participate in class discussion. Each student will give one presentation in each semester. We will decide on the topics to cover in the beginning of the semester.
