PRINCIPLE: PRINCE Plugin

PRINCE (PRIoritizatioN and Complex Elucidation) is a method for prioritizing disease associated genes.
PRINCIPLE (PRINCe ImPLEmentation) is a client-server implementation of PRINCE, where the client side is implemented as a plugin in Cytoscape: An Open Source Platform for Complex Network Analysis and Visualization

Prerequisites

  1. Internet connection: PRINCIPLE plugin connects to the PRINCIPLE server, where computations are performed
  2. Java Runtime environment (JRE). Download JRE version 6 or higher. Pay attention that the plugin does not work with java 1.5.
  3. Cytoscape version 2.7.0 or newer

Mac OS users may find following links useful:

  1. Apple's official java 6 for Mac 10.5 (64-bit Intel-based Macs only)
    1. Updating your java version to 1.6 .
    2. Switching you default java version
  2. SoyLatte java 6 for Mac 10.4 or 10.5 (Intel)
    1. Install SoyLatte
    2. Add the following to your path (or to the cytoscape.sh file):
      1. open /Applications/Utilities/X11.app
      2. export PATH=<bin directory of SoyLatte>:$PATH
      3. export DISPLAY=:0.0
