Title: Business-Rule Identification and Extraction

Abstract:

The Business-Rule Identification and Extraction (Brie) project aims to
develop tools to increase automation for the tasks of identifying
business rules in legacy systems, extracting these rules into a
business-rule management system, and remediating the original program
to call the new rules.  Brie builds on existing IBM tools as well as
technologies from IBM Research -- Haifa for intelligent search, program
abstraction, static analysis, and transformation.

This talk presents a scenario consisting of the identification and
extraction of several rules from a small medical benefit system into
the IBM WebSphere Operational Decision Management rule engine.  It
explains how the various technologies underlying Brie can be used to
identify and extract rules, and what capabilities still need to be
developed.
