Service Oriented Architectures: The new software paradigm

Abstract: Service oriented architectures are expected to become the
foundational layer for tomorrow's information systems and are
influencing already many application areas.  The principles of SOA
have evolved along applications, but the goals of SOA are far more
ambitious, requiring a decent formal, abstract basis, and in
particular adequate modelling techniques. This talk surveys some
problems, discusses some elements of an abstract basis for SOA and
outlines a generic modelling technique.
