Goedel, the Mind, and Epistemology Abstract: Roger Penrose (and many years earlier, the Oxford philosopher John Lucas) have made famous the claim that Goedel's Theorem shows that the human mind is not equivalent to a computer. This talk will explain why this is totally misguided; however, as the talk will also explain, the Theorem does have great epistemological significance, and, perhaps in this way, also does have significance for psychology of quite a different kind than Lucas and Penrose were looking for.
